Nora Al Suroor

From the very outset of her teaching career, Nora’s belief in education has led her to be the best she can be for her students. As well as maximising her academic and educational attainments, she has also striven for professional self-development in a number of ways. Not only has she trained to integrate smart learning methods into classroom work – she has also adopted technical innovations and global learning styles to improve the quality of female students’ learning in all subjects. For gifted students, she has provided a full range of support that has allowed them to go on to achieve high positions in international and local competitions. She has also applied modern strategies to explain the concepts of citizenship, national identity and the history of the homeland – as well as encouraging the spirit of responsibility among female students by leading them to participate in and manage work teams. Based on her deep belief in the importance of spreading the culture of reading and instilling positive habits at an early age, she has made the effort to popularise the concepts of innovation and creativity with various activities throughout many schools in the region.  

In terms of innovation, Nora has implemented a significant degree of tech-based project learning in her classroom, including the use of hologram technology as a three-dimensional tool for purposeful learning. This has contributed to a significant impact on the performance of the school community. Other projects have helped to develop her students’ social, emotional, digital, collaborative and cognitive skills for the future. As part of her teaching, she also supervises the cognitive advancement of students with special needs. 

Based on the importance of cooperation, teamwork, and team spirit, Nora actively participates in leading many work teams and committees at her school. Since maintaining active links with external institutions can be a positive influence in education, she has taken the initiative to become a member of certain international and local educational institutions, and has initiated affiliation with a number of voluntary organisations. By spreading the culture of volunteering and its impact on society for all cultures and ethnicities, Nora has also helped impress on students the importance of exchanging international educational experiences to enrich learning. In pursuit of this, she has attended many education conferences and forums, including “Leadership in Teaching Islamic Studies”, the “Homeland for Saudi Creativity”, and the childhood conference “A step towards a better childhood in light of the Corona pandemic”. She has additionally collaborated on research papers concerning the importance of effective communication with parents and community institutions. 

If Nora wins the Global Teacher Prize, she will use the prize funds to support education and create initiatives to illuminate society at the local, regional and global level.
